Key takeaways
  • Recovery needs should influence the hospital and accommodation choice.
  • Chengdu and Chongqing require campus-specific, not city-wide, travel planning.
  • Rehabilitation goals and follow-up responsibilities should be clear before discharge.
01

Choose by the actual care pathway

The most suitable city depends on the hospital that can review the case, the required service and the expected length of recovery. A city is not a substitute for a department-level decision.

02

Check the immediate surroundings

Confirm the hospital campus, appointment entrance, distance to accommodation, lift access, mobility needs, food requirements and companion arrangements before booking.

03

Coordinate rehabilitation expectations

Ask what physiotherapy, nursing, wound care or review is expected after discharge, whether it can be provided locally and what records will be needed for continuing care at home.

04

Avoid turning recovery into tourism pressure

A patient should not be expected to sightsee or move between cities while recovering. Build in rest days, flexible bookings and a plan for changes in condition.
